Morning Sickness Remedies
by Jaime Warren
Morning sickness, the most common pregnancy symptom, and the most misunderstood. The appropriate name for this condition should be "all day sickness." Morning sickness can occur at any time of day, and last all day. Here are some remedies to try to relieve the nausea:
Ginger: Ginger, aids in digestion, therefore helping to ease nausea. Generally, 250mg of ginger is taken up to 4 times a day. Other ginger products such as gingersnaps, gingerbread cookies, ginger tea, and ginger ale can be used.
Vitamin B6: 10-25 mg of B6 three times a day can help alleviate nausea related to morning sickness.
Sour Foods: Eating or sucking on sour foods such as pickles or lemons can help to ease nausea.
Small Meals: Eating small frequent meals, as many as six a day, can help relieve and alleviate nausea. Larger meals can actually trigger nausea.
Motion Sickness Bands: Motion sickness bands are sold at drugstores. Many women have had success relieving nausea by wearing one.
A Twist Of Lemon: Try adding a small amount of lemon to a glass of water, or, try lemonade. The sour taste of lemon can help to ease the nausea, while the water helps to replenish those lost fluids.
If the nausea is accompanied by vomiting, it is important to remember to stay hydrated. If the nausea and vomiting persists, there are prescription medications available to help.
