Optimizing the Chances for Conception

In today’s world of “hurry up and wait” we all want results immediately. For those whose lives are hectic and harried this article is for you!

In trying to conceive, there are many things a woman can do to optimize her chances. The number one thing I recommend is fertility charting. Fertility charting, once mastered, is a fast and effective way of knowing that you are indeed fertile. It also helps to confirm ovulation, and alerts to possible infertility. Learning to chart does take a little time, anywhere from one to three months to get it down right. There are several articles on this site that tell how to chart, as well as several excellent books. You can go to Amazon.com and type in “fertility charting” and several will come up.

Charting is good, but you don’t have to in order to become pregnant. Here are a few things that will simply increase the odds for both of you.

For her: Prenatal vitamins.

Prenatal vitamins contain an optimal level of nutrients that will help to prepare the body for pregnancy, and helps to maintain a healthy pregnancy. The main ingredient in prenatal vitamins that is the most important is folic acid. Folic acid helps to prevent certain neural tube defects in the baby. It’s highly recommended to be taking prenatal vitamins before pregnancy, to insure the best chances of a healthy baby.

Vitamin B6.

Taking at least 50 mg of this per day will help to regulate the reproductive hormones. Vitamin B6 helps to lengthen and regulate the luteal phase (the time between ovulation and menstruation) and helps to maintain balanced blood sugars. It’s also an excellent supplement to alleviate morning sickness during pregnancy.

 Vitamin E.

This helps to build a strong immune system, thus helping to start and maintain a healthy pregnancy.

Progesterone Cream.

Using a natural progesterone cream once ovulation is confirmed helps to balance the reproductive hormones. It helps to maintain a healthy pregnancy by building up a strong uterine lining. It also prevents certain early miscarriages that are caused by low progesterone.

Fertility herbs.

Herbs such as evening primrose oil and vitex help to regulate the reproductive hormones in some women. These need to be taken with caution, by following the dosage instructions. Do not take evening primrose oil once ovulation is confirmed.

Tea.

Green tea or even plain tea is an excellent fertility booster. Tea contains a high level of antioxidants.

For Him: Vitamin C, vitamin E and garlic helps him to produce healthy sperm. Have him to wear loose fitting underpants, and stay clear of hot tubs.

For both: Drinking water is one of nature's best remedies for cleansing the body. Our bodies are made primarily of water, so replenishing the water throughout the day is of vital importance. Relax and have fun. This is a journey and should a fun journey. Stress causes all sorts of problems including hindering ovulation and decreasing sperm count. It’s important to deal with “life” in moderation and remember to get plenty of rest and relaxation.
